This last Wednesday our church had a worship night and a BBQ. We were really excited to go because we didn't really know anyone yet and wanted to meet more people. They BBQ'd a pig, some beef and hot dogs. Of course, on the way there we thought, "Yeah, it should be good!" But when we got there, as you walk to the back where the BBQ was, the first thing you see is the pigs' head staring at you with no eyes and floppy ears. I immediately got a hot dog, some pasta and fruit and headed to the benches. Of course Josh tried some and said it was good. But seeing the front and end of the pig still, you know, there, almost made me lose my appetite. I have seen pig roasts at the LA County Fair before, but they always looked fake and they just stayed on the spit. This pig was in a large pan, already half gone, and waiting to be picked apart by our loving Christian family. Yum, yum, yum...
With that, we both looked at each other and thought the same thing...
Goodbye Southern California, and welcome to Northern California Josh and Margie!
In all seriousness though, we love how different it is up here. We love living in the "country" and away from the "city folk" and hope to adjust quickly to all the differences! We had a great time and are looking forward to the BBQ next month!
